Unable to see totals column when entering bills and invoices Unable to scroll right to see non visible columns - no scroll bar Unable to resize the description column which is taking up most of the landscape Resizing other columns leads to disastrous outcome Unable to hide columns not in use.
expanded detail on 796954 "Column resizing is disastrous" column and the window widths are not preserved exiting and re-opening an account in the ledger display, requiring enduring the tedium described below repeatedly, even after one has already sized the columns to one's liking, if the account window is closed and then re-opened. Widths should persist even after closing and restarting the entire program incorrect column widths may obscure most-significant digit(s), absent any indication that a column's width is to narrow to properly display a value that column contains. column widths should have _optional_ default 'sane' sizes, such that the entire text or complete display of numbers are properly fit within widths of columns. column widths if persistent should be persisted per-account. enforcing a common set of column widths across all accounts has a use case also, so that should be possible to enable extensive per-account width customizations to be returned to some baseline generally acceptable set of values. adjusting column widths requires tedious right-to-left and iterative adjustment of the rightmost column width, then the window width, then the next-to-rightmost column width, etc. One can't independently increase or decrease width of any arbitrary column, without subsequently needing to adjust the entire window width &/or other column(s) width(s), iteratively. There is a hard limit imposed sometimes on column width re-sizings, which requires expanding the entire window width, in order to obtain either the handles, or to adjust a column to an appropriate width; followed by having to re-size the entire window again, after the subject column width(S) have been adjusted. Reducing column widths is 'allowed' only to the extent the entire width of the window is filled - i.e. an iteration to reduce the window width is forced to further narrow a column, followed by re-widening the window. adjusting the rightmost column is simply maddening. There is an ~em-width rightmost margin column present at some times but not others. Getting the 'handle' on the rightmost column is nearly impossible without iteratively adjusting the width of the entire window, and other columns, to narrower than the entire window width, to even begin to adjust the width of the rightmost column. changing the window size alone resizes column widths, scrambling the work of many minutes of carefully-wrought tedium. definite width continually persistent whitespace left and right 'margins' would improve readability and usability. Re: Scrollng the ledger display: an inadvertent left-(right) click on an account name warps one to the top of the list of all transactions, wherever that may be, with no 'back' the right scrollbar can become miniscule width, depending on fonts and display resolution and scaling. RFE: right scrollbar width should be adjustable scrolling isn't smooth. can't tell whether scrolling up or down.
Re: Scrollng the ledger display, expanded detail on 796954: transactions' lines jump up and down and all about when entering & changing amounts - (two lines per transaction display) hugely distracting; easy to get confused and lose one's place mid data-entry running totals aren't changed immediately after transaction is edited, leaving sometimes confusing wrong totals until another transaction is clicked on clicking on 'another transaction' as above to update totals occasionaly triggers unexpected, sudden scrolling 'warping' one's view to a new unexpected place.
Is the real issue that the column widths are not preserved? Have you tried double clicking on the colmn headers to automatically size the columns? Possible duplicate of https://bugs.gnucash.org/show_bug.cgi?id=563588
Bug occurs in Windows 10 also - same, same!

This bug is about scrolling in invoice/billing and not about the ledger. Can you file a separate bug for that please.
