I was entering a quantity in an bill by way of a calculation. When I closed the parenthesis and tabbed to the amount column, no result was shown and the quantity column was left blank.

If I re-enter the calculation a second time, the result properly shows in the cell.

I haven't yet tested without using parenthesis, nor have I tested the amount column yet.

I can't seem to reproduce this on my Fedora system with current maint. Perhaps it's Macos only. Can you find more aspects to consistent reproducibility ?

Does this happen only in the bill/invoice register? IOW does it also occur in a regular transaction register?

Sorry, I didn't get to do more testing. With respect to Comment 2, no, this is only in the bill/invoice register. I'll test more with a current version and report back.
