In the Transfer Funds window, the Basic Information pane has a Memo field. This is misleading. All the other fields in the Basic Information pane are per transaction. Only this one is per split. Option 1: Change this field to Notes. Option 2: Add a Memo field each under the Transfer From and Transfer To panes. Option 3: Do both 1 and 2 above!
I encounter the same problem in GnuCash 3.6. I would appreciate updating the Version field to 3.6. Most of my multi-currency transactions for credit card expenses are displayed in 2-line form. That is, I fill in the Description and Notes field for the transaction, and never open up the Splits. Thus I never see the Memo fields for each split. The present Transfer Funds dialogue shows me a blank Notes field, which is unhelpful. I suggest the same ehancements as Ashok: Change the Memo field to a Notes field, and/or add a Notes field to the Transfer From section so that the Notes field in the Transfer To section is clearly about the Transfer To split.
